Abstract:
These are black and white aerial photographs of the Atlantic coast of New Jersey. Photograph date is 25 June 1941, based on data imprinted on the frames. Source of original images: photographic archives of the Beach Erosion Board (predecessor of the former Coastal Engineering Research Center), presently stored at the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, Engineer Research and Development Center, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, USA. Original image condition: very good. Printed on 18x18-inch double-weight silver gelatin paper. The printing date is unknown.
Purpose:
These historical photographs have been scanned and digital files produced. The files will be available for researchers and coastal managers to analyze shoreline change, urbanization trends, wetland loss, transportation patterns, coastal protection structures, and geomorphic changes.
Supplemental_Information:
Total number of frames is 12. The original negatives were printed at 2x magnification on 18 x 18 inch paper. These files have not been orthorectified or projected. Some frames from the Delaware coast are missing; disposition unknown. Original 9 x 9 inch negatives have been lost. TIFF file size approx. 30 mb.
