Supplemental Information: These files have not been orthorectified or projected. The images are numbered sequentially from east to west, Fire Island first, then Jones Beach. Identification label shows: 1V.1-876N-14) (1-11-37-12:40?) (12-6000) Fire Island N.Y. This indicates a 12 inch lens at 6000 ft altitude.

Contrast adjustments: Total tonal range based on the histogram of pixel intensity for overall photographic image (backing and borders excluded). Typically, the low, mid, and high values settings were set automatically by software.

Note: Some images appear dark when viewed on the computer screen, but the original prints were scanned to emphasize beach features for the purpose of shoreline mapping. We have tried to retain textures on the beaches.
